Launched May 31, 1911, finished in March 1912, she was then the largest passenger ship in the world.
During her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York, she rams an iceberg during the night of April
10,1912, and sinks with the loss of 1503 lives. Only 705 survived. It is surely one of the largest
disasters of maritime history. The wreck is discovered by an submarine robot in September 1985 at a
depth of 3965m., by 41.44°N and 49.57°W.
The Titanic therefore kept part of her secrets for 73 years.
