BARQUE CATALANE - fishing boat (1893)

These small crafts were in use mostly in Collioure, Banyuls, Barcares,
but were also found in Agde, Sète, Palavas and Port Vendres, all located
on the south west coast of France on the Mediterranean. They were used
for fishing sardines and anchovies.
This monograph is the result of notes and measurements made in 1893 on the boat “Charlemagne” built that year in Collioure, and is drawn after a half-hull model owned by Mr. Bernardou, Master Carpenter in Port Vendres.
